has to say about each one of them! THANK YOU for sharing
DAVID BOWMAN may the Lord bless you abundantly :)
David Bowman: has had a passion for art ever since he could pick up a pencil. He loves creating images of the Savior that inspire and uplift. Along with his Christian fine art, David has also written and illustrated a series of scripture storybooks for children titled "Who's Your Hero". Check out his website at www.bowman-art.com to see more of his precious art.

"Innocence"
The Savior tells us we need to become as little children to inherit the kingdom of God. I've often wondered what it is about little children Jesus loves most, and I think its their innocence. They are clean slates, seeing the world and others through untarnished eyes. Their hearts are pure, without the baggage of cynicism and self-doubt. In this piece, I've tried to imagine how a child would act upon meeting the Master for the first time. Without reservation or inhibition, I think he would simply want to play with Him. He would be at complete ease, allowing his pure little heart to soak in the love and laughter of His pure, infinite heart. Its no wonder Christ delights in these little ones and sets them up to be our examples.

"Security"
One of the greatest human needs is a sense of security. In all aspects of life, we naturally gravitate towards anything that makes us feel safe. In this piece, I wanted to convey a sense of complete peace and calm like only the Savior can provide. It's a security that allows us to rest assured, without fear or worry, when we put ourselves trustingly in His arms. Little children have that inherent kind of trust in their parents, so it's fitting that the man and girl who modeled for "Security" are actually father and daughter. They generated
the exact feel I was looking for.

"My Child"
This piece conveys an intimate, up-close-and-personal feeling of the Savior's love. Notice how all the lines draw your attention and point towards Jesus' face in the center. I chose the name "My Child" because the only thing that could compare (even remotely) to Christ's compassion for us is the love of a parent for his/her child. This image is also intended to put things in perspective. Above all, we are God's children first. He allows us the privilege of experiencing parenthood for ourselves and we are entrusted to be the mothers and fathers of His children here on earth.

ReplyDeleteThanks for inviting me to see these pictures of Christ. They have a real calming effect on me. We're lucky in our ward to have Del Parson and Justen Barnes as local artists too. As soon as I open my eyes in the morning-I can see the painting of Christ holding a little lamb-by Del. I imagine that I'm that little lamb, and I have nothing to fear. No matter how challenging my day is...I can always kneel and pray.

ReplyDeleteHave a very Happy New Year!
his art is--as always---spectacular.
ReplyDeletefunny thing. i actually know david bowman, or i guess i should say that i DID know him. we were EFY counselors together a REALLY LONG time ago. i have a picture that he drew of Christ....I had it all during my mission and it hung on my wall the whole time---i think that I need to revive it :)
Reading this post answers the question I had on the other post. I saw the "Security" picture in someone's home and they told me that they were Father and Daughter. I think it was possibly the man who is Christ in Mark Mabry's photographs.
ReplyDeleteThank you for posting these here on your blog and re-introducing me to this art. I think that David Bowman has captured exactly the feelings that Christ has for his children.
Those are so sweet! My favorite is "Innocence" because my husband and son play the "beep the nose" game and it reminds me of that. :-)
ReplyDeleteI love pictures of Jesus with the children. It shows such a human side of his personality.
ReplyDeleteTruly an amazing artist with so much talent. David's work creates a vivid image of Christ and the love that he has for each and every one of us.
ReplyDeleteI love the feelings of love and closeness to our Savior that these pictures portray. Beautiful!
ReplyDeleteWow, the art is so beautiful! I absolutely love it! My very favorite is 'Security'.
ReplyDeleteThese prints immediately conveyed a sense of calm, contentment, and safety to me. I pictured my 5 year old grandson in the first - resting safely in the arms of Jesus. He has been diagnosed with PDD-NOS, which is in the autism spectrum. He exhibits the innocence the artist portrays in the first picture. Everything in his life, and in his mind, has a very simple explanation and he is truly a joy to watch. His blog is http://isaiahseyes.blogspot.com/ and I created it so maybe someone else following this same path might see what a joy their child can be.
ReplyDeleteI also pictured Isaiah in the second print (even though the artist pictured what appears to be a girl). I know that in his life Isaiah will have many challenges and Jesus will always have him wrapped securely in His embrace.
The third print represents my daughter, Isaiah’s mom, being comforted by her faith in God and her trust in Jesus. Without those two things, it would be very difficult for her to let go and let Isaiah stumble and make his way through a world that is often ignorant of another’s differences, and instead of encouraging the development, often put stumbling blocks along the way.
I will have to go visit his website to see more prints. I would also like to put your blog on my blog roll of watched blogs.
Thank you and may God bless you.
I love his art, it is so moving. Am I too late to enter? I have taken the last 2 weeks off to spend with family and am now just resurfacing.♥
ReplyDeleteNice artwork. Wow, I'm not sure if you'll even see or read my comment since you have 116 comments ... but I just wanted to say thanks for sharing these pieces. I LOVE the first two, especially the first one since I assist with Children's ministry at my church. I also participate in a kid's camp called Royal Family Kid's Camp that's for abused and neglected foster kids.
ReplyDeleteJust wonderful art, I will surely go check out his website, thanks for sharing, I love innocence and would love to have it for my five year old son...what a great example of our Savior.
ReplyDeleteJust beautiful.
ReplyDeleteAll 3 of them are so beautiful with perfect titles. It's wonderful to see people using their amazing talents to help others see Christ and his love and light.
ReplyDeleteI have never seen his work before and I especially loved "Innocence". There are so few pictures of our Savior smiling that I really love the ones that depict that. Thanks for making me aware!
ReplyDeleteHis art is so captivating, and lifelike to the innocent spirit children poses. If only us adults could have even a shred of it.
ReplyDeleteWhat a surprise to see Dave Bowman's art on your site. He grew up in my ward and has really done some great things. I think his books for children are especially wonderful, and my grandkids love them.
